The New Royal Charter
“Haldane Tait and David Sinclair, architects of Caley’s new Royal Charter, and President George Anderson,
had their first opportunity to view the long-awaited document on Tuesday evening (24 th June)
at a social evening arranged at the home of Secretary Alison Murison.
Other guests included the Sir Peter Hutchison, Honorary President and
the Lady Provost of the City of Edinburgh, Elizabeth Grubb, who is an Honorary Vice President of the Society.
The President paid tribute to Haldane and David’s meticulous work over several years on the drafting
and progressing of the Charter. At Council’s request, Haldane began investigating ‘the procedures and
cost of amending the Royal Charter’ as far back as January 2004.
